Bridgewater State Cruises Past Women's Lacrosse

Bridgewater, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 19-2 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) victory over visiting Framingham State University on Saturday afternoon at Swenson Field.

The host Bears improve to 12-2 on the season and remain unbeaten in the MASCAC with a 4-0 conference mark.  The Rams slide to 1-11 overall and 1-4 in the MASCAC.

Bridgewater dominated from start to finish outshooting the Rams by a decisive margin of 39-9.  The Bears, who scored the first five goals of the contest and led 12-2 at the intermission, also held a 21-2 advantage in draw controls as well as a 31-17 edge in ground balls.

Freshman midfielder Lauren Geary (Hull, Mass.) paced the hosts with three goals, four assists, five ground balls and 17 draw controls.
Senior attack Jill Caramello (Duxbury, Mass.) led all players with five goals and eight points as she also added three assists.  Junior midfielder Taylor Clancy (Braintree, Mass.) notched three goals, four assists, nine ground balls and four caused turnovers, while freshman attack Alexis Hadcock (East Lyme, Conn.) added three goals and two helpers, and sophomore attack Riley Cachelin (Westwood, Mass.) chipped in with a pair of goals and three assists.

BSU freshman midfielder Amanda Goguen (Medford, Mass.) and freshman defender Mariah McKenna (Plymouth, Mass.) each tallied their first collegiate goals.

Senior defender Michelle Navoni (Mansfield, Mass.) and junior defender Sammi Salverio (Hanson, Mass.) combined for seven ground balls and five caused turnovers to lead the Bears' defensive effort.  Freshman net minder Chandler Ross (Wrentham, Mass.) registered four saves in just under 48 minutes of work to record her eighth win of the season.

Freshman Alysha Cericola (Waltham, Mass.) turned aside 14 shots between the pipes for Framingham State.  Junior midfielder Kalie Giatrelis (Mashpee, Mass.) accounted for the Rams' lone two goals, both coming in the first half.

In upcoming action, the Bears travel to Wheelock College on Monday evening to take on the Wildcats at seven. The Rams wrap up regular season play on Wednesday afternoon when they host MASCAC foe Westfield State University at 4:30.
