Nashua, NH – The Framingham State University Rams suffered their second straight non-conference loss this evening as they were defeated 17-5 by the Rivier University Raiders on the road this evening.
With the win, the Raiders improve to 4-2 on the year, while the Rams dip to 1-3 on the young season.
The Raiders pounced on their opponent opening up a 7–1 lead in the first 11 minutes of the game. Framingham State managed to plug the onslaught with a 2nd goal at the 11:27 mark, but the Raiders answered back with seven more goals over the final 15 minutes of the first half to take control of the game with a 14–2 halftime lead.
Rivier and Framingham State scored three goals apiece in the second half to reach the final margin of 17–5.
Hannah Wyatt (Merrimack, NH) led the Raiders on the night by scoring six goals and adding a ground ball. Amanda Wickens (Tyngsboro, MA) chipped in with four goals and six ground balls, while Jessica Amaral (E. Providence, RI) added three goals, an assist and three ground balls. Elena Reilly (Braintree, MA) contributed three goals, two assists and four ground balls. Danielle Moran (San Diego, CA) continued her strong play in goal, turning in nine saves including two on free position shots.
The visiting Rams received strong performances from freshman Jessica Graham (Woburn, MA) who picked up a goal and two ground balls, while classmate Kristen Hoggins (Harvard, MA) also recorded a goal with four ground balls. Junior Nicole L'Heureux (Dracut, MA), freshman Amy Rotger (Revere, MA) and senior Lauren Kent (Framingham, MA) tallied a single goal apiece. Sophomore Alysha Cericola (Waltham, MA) was tagged with the loss in goal going the distance and making seven saves.
Next up for the Raiders is a home contest this Saturday against St. Joseph (CT) at 1:00 p.m. in a GNAC Conference clash. Framingham State opens MASCAC play this Saturday at home as they entertainMass Maritime at 12:00 p.m.
