Mass. Maritime Takes Two from Baseball

Buzzards Bay, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 2-1 and 2-0 by Mass. Maritime this afternoon in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader at Hendy Field. 

THE BASICS:

- Records: Framingham State (10-25, 6-12), MMA (20-16, 11-7)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: MMA 2, FSU 1 

  • The Bucs took a 1-0 lead on an RBI ground out in the bottom of the first and extended the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth. 

  • The Rams got on the board in the top of the seventh on an RBI groundout from Scott Paquette. 

  • Cam Prescott took the loss on the mound for the Rams going seven innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts. 

  • Hunter Dean earned the victory for the Bucs going seven innings, allowing one earned run on two hits with 11 strikeouts. 

Game 2: MMA 2, FSU 0 

  • In game two, the Bucs plated the only runs of the game on a two-run homer run from Brett Velzis in the bottom of the first inning. 

  • Joshua Sunderland took the loss for the Rams on the mound going 5.1 innings. Allowing two earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts. Keith Ramsey worked .2 innings of scoreless relief. 

  • Sam Huffman earned the victory on the mound going six scoreless innings, allowing just six hits with three walks and three strikeouts 

  • Lucas Basile went 3-for-4 at the plate in game two with a stolen base.

The Rams are back in action Tuesday afternoon when they host Maine-Farmington at 3 p.m.
