Baseball Falls 8-2 to Rutgers-Newark in Weather Shortened Game

Winter Haven, Fla. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 8-2 in a weather shortened game by Rutgers-Newark in non-conference action at Chain of Lakes this afternoon.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI single through the right side from Johnny Lynch 

  • Rutgers-Newark tied the game in the top of the second and took the lead 8-1 with seven runs in the top of the third including a three run home run. 

  • The Rams received a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth from Scott Paquette closing the deficit to 8-2. 

  • The game was called after five innings due to weather in the region. 

  • Charlie Ambroult took the loss on the mound going three innings, allowing eight runs, three earned, on seven hits with three strikeouts. 

  • Paquette and Lynch each finished the game with a hit and an RBI for the Rams.

The Rams are back in action Tuesday in Florida when they face Maine-Farmington for a pair of games.
