Bates Holds Off Baseball for 6-3 Victory

Auburndale, Fla. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 6-3 by Bates College this afternoon in non-conference action at Lake Myrtle.   

THE BASICS:

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams received six solid innings from Shaun Marsh. Marsh surrendered just two unearned runs in his six innings of work on two hits with seven strikeouts and a walk.  

  • Bates took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Rams tied the game in the bottom of the second when Nicholas Kutcher was caught stealing second allowing Johnny Lynch to score from third. 

  • The game remained tied until the sixth when Bates received a sacrifice fly taking a 2-1 lead. Bates extended the lead to 5-1, heading to the bottom of the eighth. 

  • Aricin Griffin singled up the middle, plating a run for the Rams in the bottom of the eighth, and Zachary Kern added an RBI single, cutting the deficit to 5-3. 

  • Bates added an insurance run in the top of the ninth to reach the final margin. 

  • Lynch finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a double, while Kutcher finished 2-for-2 with a run scored and two walks.
