Worcester State Swings Past Baseball 16-8

FraminghamMass. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 16-8 this afternoon by Worcester State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Bowditch Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Lancers grabbed a 6-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but the Rams got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Colin Johnson doubled in a run. 

  • The Rams added three more in the bottom of the fourth closing the deficit to 6-4.  Ryder Brown plated a run with a ground out and Scott Paquette reached on an error allowing two runs to score. 

  • The Lancers tacked four apiece in the top of the fifth and sixth and a single run in the seventh taking a 15-4 lead. 

  • The Rams added a single run in the sixth on an infield single from August Hayes and two in the seventh including an RBI ground out from Christian Cox. Each team closed the game with a run in the ninth to reach the final score. 

  • Garrett Lucht took the loss on the mound for the Rams going 4.1 innings, allowing eight runs, five earned, on six hits with three walks. 

  • Nicholas Kutcher finished the game with two hits, an RBI and a run scored, while Roscoe Palmer went 1-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and two walks.
