Baseball Walks Off In Game Two as Rams Sweep MCLA

FraminghamMass. - The Framingham State University basebalteam took game one of a double header by a score of 9-1 before walking off with a 2-1 victory in game two over MCLA in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Bowditch Field.   

THE BASICS: 

- Scores:  Framingham State 9, MCLA 1/Framingham State 2, MCLA 1 

- Records: Framingham State (6-17, 4-10)MCLA (8-14, 2-8)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Trailblazers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a sacrifice fly to right, but the Rams plated six in the bottom of the inning to lead 6-1.  Nicholas Kutcher, Roscoe Palmer, Jakob Lindkvist and Zachary Kern delivered RBI base hits and Scott Paquette added a sacrifice fly.  

  • The Rams added to the lead in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly by Kern and plated two more in the fifth on a single from Kutcher and a ground out from Kern to reach the final score. 

  • Connor Thibault earned the victory on the mound going seven innings, allowing one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts. 

  • Kutcher and Palmer finished the game with two hits apiece and two RBI, while Kern finished 1-for-2 with three RBI. 

  • In game two, after three scoreless innings, the Trailblazers loaded the bases in the fourth and scored the game's first run on a walk. 

  • The Rams tied the game in the bottom of the sixth when Colin Johnson walked and then scored on an RBI single from Christian Cox. 

  • The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh when Kutcher led off the inning with a triple to right and Palmer followed with a game winning single to center scoring Kutcher with the winning run. 

  • Joshua Sunderland earned the victory in game two tossing seven innings and allowing just one run on five hits with 11 strikeouts.
