Late Home Run Lifts Westfield State Past Baseball

FraminghamMass. - The Framingham State University basebalteam surrendered a three run home run in the eighth inning as Westfield State came from behind to earn an 11-9 victory in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Bowditch Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams grabbed a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first after a two run homer from Johnny Lynch and RBI basehits from Zachary Kern and Jakob Lindkvist. 

  • The Rams added to the lead in the fifth on a solo home run from Roscoe Palmer, but Westfield State plated two runs in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to 5-2.   

  • The Rams added three in the bottom of the sixth including RBI singles from Colin Johnson and Christian Cox and a sacrifice fly from Lynch. 

  • Westfield's offense came alive in the late innings as they scored nine runs in the seventh and eighth inning, including a go ahead three run home run to right. 

  • The Rams added a final run in the seventh on a Kern sacrifice fly. 

  • Charlie Ambroult started on the mound for the Rams and did not factor in the decision. He went 5.2 innings allowing two earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts. 

  • Palmer finished the game 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Lynch finished 1-for-4 with three RBI.
