Baseball Takes Game Two in Split with Westfield State

WestfieldMass. - The Framingham State University basebalteam took game two by a score of 2-1 after falling 8-0 to Westfield State in the opener of a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Hagan Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • In the opener, the Owls got on the board in the bottom of the first with a pair of runs. 

  • The Owls added three apiece in the third and fourth to reach the final margin. 

  • Westfield State starting pitcher Andre Phaneuf held the Rams to just two hits in the game while striking out eight and walking two. 

  • Connor Thibault took the loss on the mound for the Rams going three innings, allowing five runs, four earned, on two hits with a strikeout. Jacob Delvalle tossed two innings of scoreless relief for the Rams. 

  • In game two, the Owls took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when they plated a run on a wild pitch. 

  • The Rams took the lead for good in the top of the fourth. Christian Cox scored on a passed ball and Nicholas Kutcher added an RBI ground out. 

  • Jason Strickland earned the victory on the mound for the Rams going seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits with three strikeouts.
