Salem State Takes Two from Baseball

FraminghamMass. - The Framingham State University basebalteam was defeated 4-1 and 16-3 by Salem State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Bowditch Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • In the opener, the Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third when the capitalized on a Ram error. 

  • The Vikings added a run in the top of the fifth on an RBI single extending the lead to 2-0. 

  • Salem State starting pitch Nolan Currier carried a no hitter into the sixth inning, when Christian Cox broke up his bid with a single to right. 

  • The Vikings added two more runs in the top of the seventh on a home run, and the Rams got on the board in the bottom of the inning when Roscoe Palmer scored on an error. 

  • Connor Thibeault took the loss on the mound for the Rams foing six innings, allowing two unearned runs on two hits with five walks and two strikeouts. 

  • In game two, the Vikings plated multiple runs in each of the first three innings to lead 9-0. The Vikings who belted 16 hits in the game extended the lead in the late innings and hit three home runs in the game. 

  • The Rams got on the board with a pair of runs in the fifth and a run in the sixth. Massimo Mondi finished with two of the Rams three hits in the game, while Cox added the other and plated a run. 

  • Shaun Marsh took the loss going two innings, allowing nine runs on nine hits with a strikeout.
