Fitchburg State Tops Baseball on Senior Day

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 10-7 by Fitchburg State this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Bowditch Field.

- Records:  Framingham State (8-27, 5-17), Fitchburg State (10-26, 7-15)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

• The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from Johnny Lynch, but the Falcons tied the game in the top of the second. 

• The Rams retook the lead on a two run double from Scott Paquette in the bottom of the second, but the Falcons plated three runs in the fourth to lead 4-3. 

• Massimo Mondi singled home a pair of runs in the fourth putting the Rams back in the lead and Roscoe Palmer added a solo home run in the fifth pushing the lead to 6-4. 

• The Falcons scored three in the top of the sixth to on top 7-6. Fitchburg pushed the lead to 10-6 heading to the bottom of the ninth. 

• The Rams plated the final run of teh game in the bottom of the ninth on a sacrifice fly from Lynch. 

• Ben Respress tossed five innings for the Rams, allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits with eight strikeouts, but did not factor in the decision. 

• Lynch finished the game 1-for4 with two RBI, while Mondi went 2-for-5 with two RBU and a run scored. 

• Prior to the game, the Rams recognized their three seniors – Respress, Jason Strickland and Josh Sunderland – as part of Senior Day.
