Framingham, Mass. — The University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth field hockey team remains undefeated in Little East Conference action after the Corsairs defeated the Framingham State University Rams 4-0 today in Framingham. With the win, UMass Dartmouth improves to 12-5 overall and 10-0 in the Little East, while the loss drops the Rams to 5-10 overall and 3-7 in conference.
UMass Dartmouth outshot the Rams 14-2 in the game including 11-1 in the second half. Freshman goalie Lauren O'Brien (Rochester, Mass.) made one save and picked up the shutout victory for the Corsairs, while senior Allesha Kenyon (Westford, Mass.) made nine saves and was tagged with the loss for the Rams.
Sophomore Eleanor Taylor (Fairhaven, Mass.), who finished the game with a goal and an assist, scored the game winner just 9:19 into the contest off an assist from senior Kate Dorrance (Rehoboth, Mass.). The Corsairs would maintain the 1-0 lead into the half.
UMass Dartmouth's offense opened the second half on tear as they scored twice in the first ten minutes. Senior Stephanie Kinchla (Falmouth, Mass.) scored unassisted at 40:30 and senior Jacke Anderson (Medway, Mass.) scored off a Taylor assist at 43:33.
Kinchla would add her second of the game at 52:52 to reach the final margin of 4-0.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday as they host Lasell at 3:30 p.m., while the Corsairs host Mt. Holyoke on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
