Field Hockey Held Off by Lasell; 4-2

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State field hockey team was defeated by Lasell University in non-conference action Thursday afternoon at Maple Street Field.  

THE BASICS: 

Score: Lasell 4, Framingham State 2 

Records: Framingham State (0-2), Lasell (3-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Lasers got on the board in the sixth minute when Alice Rourke sent in a strike from the top of the arc after a pass from Johanna Snyder.  

  • In the tenth minute Rourke scored again after a setup from Kaitlin Bedell to take a 2-0 lead into the half.  

  • Bedell got in on the action in the 36thminute to give the visitors a 3-0 advantage. 

  • The Rams answered in the 41stminute when Ashley Malmquist finished off a breakaway slipping her shot through the goalie's pads. 

  • Kaylee Beck made it a one goal game when she buried a loose ball into the cage. 

  • The Lasers scored an insurance goal to reach the final margin when Megan Crabtree scored in the 59th minute.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Framingham State's goalie Kaitlyn Tello made four saves in net for the Rams while her sister Kaitlyn made eight stops in goal for the Lasers.  
  • The visitors commanded play for most of the contest leading the shot tally 16-to-8 and holding the Rams to two shots in the first three quarters.  
  • The Lasers also earned 12 penalty corners to the Rams three.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday, September 10that 7pm when they host Rivier. The Lasers will travel to Salve Regina on Wednesday, September 11th.
