Overtime Goals Lifts Worcester State Past Field Hockey 3-2

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University field hockey team tied the game on a goal midway through the fourth quarter but were defeated 3-2 in overtime tonight y Worcester State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Maple Street Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Lancers took the early lead when Kae Coleman converted off a feed from Katelynn Swistak just over four minutes into the game. 

  • The Rams tied the game in the second quarter as Natalia Roehr sent a pass ahead to Chloe Moynihan, who found the back of the net in the 20th minute. 

  • Worcester State had their chances down the stretch to go back on top, but the Rams Kaitlyn Tello made eight saves in the first half. 

  • The Lancers retook the lead in the third period on a goal from Swistak, but the Rams tied the game in the fourth on Moynihan's second of the game with just over ten minutes to play. 

  • Neither team scored down the stretch, and the game went to overtime.  

  • Both teams had their chances early, and the Lancers struck for the game winner just under seven minutes into the extra session. 

  •  Tello finished the game with 20 saves for the Rams who were outshot 39-13 in the game. 

  • Moynihan finished with two goals, while Allison Wurms and Roehr recorded assists.
