Hogan’s OT Winner Sends Field Hockey to MASCAC Semi-final

Fitchburg, Mass. – Junior forward Finley Hogan sent a strike into the back of the cage after collecting a rebound in the 69th minute to send the 6th seeded Rams past third-seeded Fitchburg State Tuesday evening.  

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Framingham State 2, Fitchburg State 1 (OT) 

  • Records: Framingham State (5-14, 3-9 MASCAC), Fitchburg State (11-8, 7-5 MASCAC) 

  • Location: Elliot Field, Fitchburg, MA 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams struck early with a goal just 44 seconds into the game. Finley Hogan found the back of the net, assisted by Allison Wurms, giving Framingham State a 1-0 lead. 

  • Fitchburg State responded in the second quarter when Kendall O'Brien scored an unassisted goal at the 18:57 mark, leveling the score at 1-1. 

  • The game remained deadlocked through regulation, forcing an overtime period. In the extra session, Hogan once again delivered for the Rams, scoring the game-winning goal unassisted at the 69:00 mark. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Framingham State's Finley Hogan led the team with two goals, including the game-winner in overtime. 

  • The Rams' defense, anchored by goalkeeper Kaitlyn Tello, was stellar. Tello made 13 saves on 14 shots on goal, securing the win. 

  • Fitchburg State outshot Framingham State 28-11, but the Rams made their opportunities count. 

  • The Rams had six penalty corners compared to Fitchburg State's seven.
