Field Hockey Eliminated in MASCAC Semifinal by Top-Seeded Westfield State

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The sixth-seeded Framingham State field hockey team was defeated by top-seed Westfield State in the semifinal of the MASCAC Tournament. The Owls will advance to the MASCAC Championship Game on Saturday.  

THE BASICS:

  • Records: Framingham State (5-15), Westfield State (17-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Westfield State opened the scoring in the first quarter with an unassisted goal by Kacey Curran at the 10:04 mark. 

  • The Owls extended their lead in the third quarter when Curran found the back of the net again, this time assisted by Kaleigh Murphy at 40:15. 

  • Framingham State's defense, led by goalkeeper Kaitlyn Tello, held strong with Tello making 19 saves on 21 shots on goal. 

  • The Rams managed three shots, with one on goal, but were unable to convert any into points. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Framingham State's Natalia Roehr recorded the team's sole shot on goal. 

  • Westfield State dominated in shots (29-3) and penalty corners (16-1). 

  • The game saw a total of three cards issued to Westfield State players, including a yellow card to Caroline Andrade in the fourth quarter.
