Men's Basketball Shoots Past Wentworth 91-80

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's basketball team shot 55% from behind the arc as they erased and early deficit and defeated Wentworth 91-80 this evening in non-conference action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams shot 54.8% from the field (34-62) and 55% from long-range connecting on 11-of-20 from behind the arc. 

  • The Rams were paced by 28 points from Marshall Kerley. Kerley connected on 9-of-15 from the field including 8-of-12 from behind the arc. 

  • Kyle Philistin finished the game with 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal, while Joshua Saint Jean just missed a double double with 16 points and nine boards. 

  • Dyree Rogers added nine points and three boards, while JD Okafor finished with six points, six rebounds and two steals. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Wentworth jumped out to a 19-9 lead just under eight minutes into the game as they capitalized on hot shooting from behind the arc. 

  • The Rams rattled off a 15-4 run capped by a Joshua Saint Jean layup taking their first lead of the game, 24-23, with just under five to play. The Rams closed the half with another run capped by a Korbin Gann three to lead 44-32 at the half. 

  • The Rams opened the second half extending the lead to as many as 17, 60-43, with just under 14 minutes to play, but the Leopards countered with an 8-0 run closing the gap to 60-51 with 12:34 on the clock. 

  • The Rams countered with an 18-6 run capped by a Marshall Kerley three taking a 78-57 lead with 7:35 on the clock. Wentworth used a 13-0 run over the next four minutes closing the deficit to 78-70 with under four to play. 

  • Framingham used threes from Kyle Philistin and Kerley to push the lead back to twelve (84-72) with two minutes to play and the Rams held on for the victory.
