Men's Basketball Comeback Falls Short Against MIT

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's basketball team used a second half run to pull within a point, but MIT was able to hold on and secure a 92-72 victory over the Rams this evening in non-conference action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led by 19 points on 8-of-16 from the floor from Kyle Philistin. Philistin added four rebounds, two assists and a steal in the game. 

  • Adonis Vashon chipped in with 17 points as he connected on 6-of-10 from the floor and 2-of-3 from behind the arc. 

  • The Rams started the game with a 9-0 spurt fueled by a pair of threes from Kerley, but the Engineers countered with a 14-2 run taking a 14-11 lead.  

  • MIT pushed the lead to six before the Rams pulled within one, 21-20, on a Philistin three with 11 minutes remaining. MIT responded with another run and pushed the lead to 36-25 with just under six to play before they took a 43-36 lead into the locker room. 

  • MIT opened a 50-39 lead just under three minutes into the second half, before the Rams used a 12-2 run capped by a Philistin bucket in the paint closing the gap to 52-51 with just over 13 minutes on the clock. 

  • MIT responded with a final run pushing the lead back to double digits as they secured the victory. 

  • The Rams shot 50% from the field in the game and 42% from behind the arc, while MIT shot 56% from the floor and 48% from behind the arc including going 10-for-19 from behind the arc in the first half.
