Second Half Run Propels Men’s Basketball to 72-65 Overtime Victory over MCLA

North Adams, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's basketball team used a 23-0 run midway through the second half to erase a double digit deficit and force overtime as the Rams eventually defeated MCLA 72-65 this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at the Amsler Campus Center.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led by 23 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals from Lorenzo Washington. Washington was clutch down the stretch for the Rams from the free throw line where he went 11-of-14 for the game. 

  • Fallou Koite finished the game with 14 points and three rebounds, while Makyle Hayes finished the night with 15 points off the bench. 

  • Joshua Saint Jean added a double double as he tallied 13 points with 13 boards. 

  • The Rams trailed 48-25 with 13:43 on the clock in the second half. 

  • Over the next six minutes the Rams held the Trailblazers without a point as they erased the deficit and tied the game 48-48 on a layup from Lorenzo Washington with 8:19 on the clock. 

  • The two teams traded the lead back and forth over the next six minutes with neither team lading by more than two points. 

  • Tied at 56-56 with 1:50 on the clock, the Trailblazers converted a pair of free throws to lead 58-56. Washington went 1-for-2 from the line closing the gap to one before an MCLA freebie pushed the lead back to two with 31 seconds left. 

  • Makyle Hayes brought the ball up for the Rams and drove to the rim, sinking a layup tying the game 59-59 with 17 seconds left. The Trailblazers had a shot at the end for the victory, but the ball rattled out sending the game to overtime. 

  • In overtime, the game was tied 61-61 with 3:41 on the clock before the Rams took control of the game with an 11-1 run taking a 72-62 lead before MCLA tacked on a three in the closing seconds to reach the final margin
