Second Half Run Sends Salem Past Men’s Basketball 84-76

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's basketball team surrendered a 12-0 run in the second half to Salem State as the Vikings defeated the Rams 84-76 this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led by a game-high 22 points from Fallou Koite. Koite connected on just 4-of-16 from the floor, but went 13-for-13 at the line. Koite added two rebounds, two assists, seven steals and three blocks. 

  • Joshua Saint Jean finished the game with 12 points on 30of08 from the floor to go along with seven rebounds. 

  • AJ Thompson added 11 points, four rebounds and two steals, while Domonick Victor finished with 11 points and four rebounds off the bench. 

  • The first half saw six ties and nine lead changes with neither team leading by more than six, before the Vikings took an eight-point lead (43-35) with 1:42 on the clock. The Rams received a dunk from Vondre Chase to close the half and head to the half trailing 43-37.   

  • Saint Jean led the Rams with 12 first half points, while Will Martinez scored nine for the Vikings. 

  • The Rams opened the second half with a 6-0 run tying the game at 43-43, but the Vikings countered with a 12-0 run over the next three minutes to lead 55-43. The Vikings maintained the lead for the remainder of the game and led by as many as 16 before the Rams scored the final five points of the game to close within eight.
