Fourth Seed Men's Basketball Storms Past Fifth Seed Bridgewater State 87-86

Framingham, Mass. - The fourth seeded Framingham State University men's basketball team received a layup from Vondre Chase with six seconds remaining to go ahead for good as the Rams defeated fifth seed Bridgewater State 87-86 in one opening round game of the 2026 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Tournament at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led by a double double of 22 points and 1rebounds from Joshua Saint Jean. Saint Jean shot 8-of-13 from the floor and added an assist, a block and three steals. 

  • Lorenzo Washington also finished the night with 22 points to go along with four assists, two rebounds and a steal. 

  • Fallou Koite also tallied 22 points for the Rams as he added five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. 

  • Chase finished the game with 11 points including the game winning bucket and added eight rebounds, two assists and a steal. 

  • The Rams stormed out to begin the game, leading 14-2 just five minutes into the contest. The Rams extended the lead to 22-6 after a Koite three pointer with 13 minutes on the clock. 

  • Bridgewater State slowly chipped away at the Rams lead pulling within six (46-40) on a pair of free throws to close the half. 

  • Bridgewater State opened the second half with a 17-7 run taking a 57-53 lead with just over 14 minutes on the clock. 

  • Bridgewater State would maintain the lead over the next six minutes before the Rams used a 6-0 run capped by a Saint Jean layup to pull within one (75-74) with 6:20 on the clock. 

  • The Rams used a layup from Saint Jean and Koite bucket to retake the lead 78-77 with just over four to play. The Rams added a three point play from Washington and led 81-77 with three to go. 

  • The Bears responded tying the game on a pair of free throws and retaking the lead 84-83 on a jumper with just over a minute. 

  • A pair of Washington free throws put the Rams back on top, but the Bears reclaimed the lead (86-85) on a layup with 31 seconds to go setting the stage for Chase to put the Rams on top for good with six seconds on the clock. 

  • The Bears had a final possession but turned the ball over.

The Rams are back in action Friday night in one semifinal of the MASCAC Tournament.
