Larkin's Hat Trick Powers Men's Ice Hockey Past Franklin Pierce 8-4

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Junior forward Sam Larkin recorded a hat trick, scoring four goals overall, as the Framingham State men's ice hockey team defeated Franklin Pierce 8-4 Friday night at Loring Arena.

  • Scott Bugarin opened the scoring on the power play at 6:33 of the first period, with assists from Brent Scott and Larkin
  • Larkin netted his first goal at 12:45, assisted by Robert Bernier and Jonas Oesterle, extending the lead to 2-0
  • Franklin Pierce's John Sterling cut the deficit to 2-1 with a power-play marker at 15:27
  • Devin Shepherd restored the two-goal advantage at 16:39, assisted by Jerry Duckett and Michael Kennedy, sending FSU to the first intermission up 3-1
  • Larkin scored shorthanded at 4:15 of the second period before FPU's Isaiah Frankel answered on the power play at 5:13
  • Bugarin notched the eventual game-winner at 7:47, assisted by Bernier and Jake Barcelou, making it 5-2
  • Sterling pulled FPU within two goals with a shorthanded tally at 1:57 of the third
  • Larkin completed his hat trick on the power play at 4:19, then added an unassisted even-strength goal at 7:05 for his fourth of the night
  • Nathan Gines extended the lead to 8-3 at 10:29, assisted by Oesterle
