Bio

Mike Bailey enters his ninth season as head coach of the Framingham State University ice hockey program in 2026-27, having taken over prior to the 2018-19 season.

A proud FSU alum, Bailey was appointed by Director of Athletics Tom Kelley in 2018 after serving two seasons as an assistant coach with the Rams. He previously coached at Bellingham High School for three years, helping to develop young talent and foster a competitive team culture.

Since taking the helm, Bailey has guided the Rams to a 32-132-12 record. The 2023-24 season marked a high point under Bailey with eight wins and a strong 8-11-2 conference record. The 2024-25 campaign saw the Rams finish 3-19-3, with a 2-14-2 mark in MASCAC play.

In 2025-26, the Rams posted a 7-18 overall record and went 4-10 in MASCAC play, more than doubling the program’s win total from the previous season. Framingham State’s seven victories represented the program’s second-most under Bailey, with wins over UMass Dartmouth, Salem State, Franklin Pierce (twice), Rivier (twice), and an overtime victory against Worcester State.

Bailey’s connection to Framingham State runs deep. As a four-year member of the Rams ice hockey team, he served as a two-time captain, and the team never experienced a losing season during his playing career. He graduated in 1996 with a degree in sociology and a minor in psychology.

Outside of coaching, Bailey works for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections at MCI-Cedar Junction. He resides in North Attleboro with his wife, Mary, and their daughters, Emma and Madison.
