Men’s Soccer Edged Out by Hartford

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State men's soccer team could not overcome a two-goal deficit falling to Hartford 3-2 in non-league play Saturday morning in Framingham.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Hartford University 3, Framingham State 2 

-Records: Framingham State (0-3-2), Hartford University (3-0-1) 

-Location: Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Hawks opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Alex Quinones tapped in a shot that was saved by the Rams keeper and deflected off the post.  

  • The host Rams countered with a goal of their own in the 38th minute as Abdellah Eddahbi scored with an assist for Karl Hemmingsen as the first half concluded with the teams tied at 1-1.  

  • The Hawks countered in the second half scoring the second goal of the day in the 58th minute as senior Kellijah Morgan tallied his second goal of the season on a feed from Quinones. Just 30 seconds later and the lead grew to 3-1 as Quinones found his second goal of the day on assists by Morgan and junior Nick Castrovinci.  

  • The Rams tried to respond quickly, but sophomore Ryan Lunn denied Kaio Santos Da Silva to keep the lead at 3-1. In the 76th minute the Rams finally added their second goal as John Holt beat Lunn to trim the lead to 3-2 but that's as close s the Rams would come.  

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Ryan Lunn made two saves in net for the Hawks while Tyler Holden made five saves in goal for the Rams.  

  • Hartford held the advantage in shots 18-to-8 and corner kicks 8-to-2.
