Men’s Soccer Falls to Westfield in MASCAC Play

Westfield, Mass. – The Westfield State men's soccer team defeated Framingham State in MASCAC action Saturday afternoon in Westfield. With this result, Westfield State improved to 2-0-2 in conference play, while Framingham State falls to 0-4-0 in the conference. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Westfield State 5, Framingham State 0 

  • Records: Westfield State (5-5-3, 2-0-2), Framingham State (0-10-2, 0-4-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Ethan Margolis opened the scoring for Westfield State in the 9th minute with an unassisted goal, setting the tone for the Owls. 

  • Just under three minutes later, Tim Tkacz doubled the lead, assisted by Sonny Mazza at 11:49. 

  • Coleby Andrade made it 3-0 with a goal at 21:39, again assisted by Sonny Mazza, capping a dominant first half for the Owls. 

  • In the 64th minute, Mateo Navarro added to Westfield State's tally with an unassisted goal, making it 4-0. 

  • Jesse Njamnshi sealed the 5-0 victory with a goal in the 81st minute, assisted by Ryan Viana. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Shots: Westfield State held a narrow 20-18 edge in total shots but were more clinical, with 10 on target compared to Framingham State's 8. 
  • Saves: Marko Kononenko and Luke Theroux combined for 8 saves to preserve the shutout for Westfield State. Mikey Walker made five saves for the Rams.  
  • Men's Soccer Falls to Westfield in MASCAC Play Corners: Framingham State had a slight advantage in corner kicks, 5-4.
