Men’s Soccer Falls to MCLA in MASCAC Action

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University men's soccer team dropped a 4-2 decision to MCLA in non-conference action Saturday morning at Maple Street Field. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: MCLA 4, Framingham State 2 

  • Records: Framingham State (0-3-0), MCLA (1-2-0) 

  • Location: Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • MCLA opened the scoring early in the 6th minute as Gustavo de Oliveira found the back of the net off a feed from Kyle Cardoso. 

  • Framingham State responded in the 28th minute when Kaio Santos Da Silva converted to level the match at 1-1. 

  • Just two minutes later, de Oliveira struck again for MCLA, reclaiming the lead, and added another goal in the 44th minute to give the Trailblazers a 3-1 edge at halftime. 

  • Santos Da Silva netted his second of the night in the 57th minute to bring the Rams within one, but de Oliveira sealed the win with his fourth goal in the 89th minute. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Framingham State outshot MCLA 18-10, including a 7-9 edge in shots on goal. 

  • The Rams earned five corner kicks to MCLA's one. 

  • Goalkeeper Colin Holt made five saves in net for Framingham State. 

  • MCLA's Gustavo de Oliveira was the difference-maker, scoring all four goals for the Trailblazers.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday, September 9th, when they host a non-conference matchup with UMass Dartmouth at Maple Street Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
