Rams Place Four on All-MASCAC Softball Teams

Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College softball team placed four players on the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-conference team in voting conducted by the league's seven head coaches. Senior third baseman Colleen Clancy (Lynn, MA) was the Rams lone first team selection, while freshman shortstop Christy Ulak (Rehoboth, MA), senior first baseman Liz Ranton (Milton, MA), and sophomore outfielder Andrea DiTerlizzi (Shrewsbury, MA) received second team honors.

Clancy, who earns all-conference honors for the second time in her career, was second on the team in hits (44) and broke the Framingham State softball career hit record.  She finishes her outstanding career with 160 hits which surpassed the old mark of 147 which was set in 2007.

Ulak, who earns all-conference accolades for the first time, led the Rams all season in all of the major offensive categories and is among the conference leaders in hits and average.  She leads the Rams in hits (47), average (.370), RBI (21), doubles (8), slugging percentage (.496), and total bases (63).  Ulak was selected the MASCAC Player of the Week once this season.

Ranton receives all-conference honors for the second time in her career. In 2006 she was a first team selection at first base.  Ranton finishes this season with a .293 average and a .980 fielding percentage.

DiTerlizzi, who saw time in all three outfield positions this season, receives second team softball honors for the first time in her career.  DiTerlizzi, who is a two-sport athlete for the Rams, was named to the All-MASCAC field hockey second team in 2007.  She tied Ulak for the team lead in  RBI this season with 21 and was third on the team in average hitting .303.

The Rams finished the regular season 13-25 overall and 8-4 in conference earned the third seed in the MASCAC Softball Championship.  After falling in the opening round to second seed Bridgewater State, the Rams defeated fourth seed MCLA in an elimination game Saturday morning before being eliminated by top seed Westfield State on Saturday afternoon to finish their season at 14-27.
