Softball Seeks Fourth Consecutive MASCAC Title, Enters Season as Preseason Favorite

Framingham, Mass.-  The reigning three-time Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournament Champion Framingham State Rams were predicted to win the 2021 MASCAC Softball Championship as voted on by the coaches from around the league.

The Rams received 47 points and five first place votes earning the top spot in the poll. The Rams did not compete in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2019 Rams finished the season 12-2 in conference play winning a share of the MASCAC Regular Season Title for the second time in program history. The 2019 squad went on the win their third straight MASCAC Tournament Title and made the program's fourth trip to the NCAA Div. III Tournament.

The Rams return two-time first team All-Conference senior Camille Desrochers (Westford, Mass.) returns for her senior season after a breakout sophomore season that saw her hit .329 with a .436 OBP scoring 47 runs and collecting a league best 28 doubles in 2019.

2019 All-conference third baseman Kirsten Dick (Tewksbury, Mass.) returns as a grad student in 2021 after leading the Rams in home runs in her junior campaign.

The 2019 Regular Season Co-Champion Bridgewater State finished second in the poll with 44 points and three first place votes. Worcester State lands in third with 35 points followed in fourth by Westfield State with 31 points. Fitchburg is fifth with 26 points and MCLA picked up 17 points for sixth. Rounding out the 2021 poll in seventh and eighth are Salem State and Massachusetts Maritime with 16 and 8 points, respectively.

The Rams will open their COVID shortened 2021 campaign on Wednesday, March 17th when they host a non-conference doubleheader with Emmanuel College. Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, at this time there are no spectators allowed at any MASCAC contest.
