Pepin, Moran & Swanson Sweep Weekly MASCAC Softball Awards

Framingham, Mass.- Framingham State junior Laela Pepin (Acushnet, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week while sophomore Ally Moran (Wilmington, Mass.) and sophomore Grace Swanson (Lincoln, RI) have been named MASCAC Pitcher & Rookie of the week for the week ending March 28th. 

Pepin opened the 2021 campaign 12-for-32 (.375) with three doubles, a home run, eight runs scored, 11 RBI and .563 slugging percentage to lead the Rams to a 9-1 start. The junior went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, three RBI, a walk and stolen base in the conference doubleheader sweep of Westfield State and was 2-for-3 with a double, run scored, two RBI, walk and stolen base in the game two non-conference win over Westfield State. Pepin went 4-for-7 with a double, home run, two runs scored and three RBI in the season-opening doubleheader sweep of Emmanuel College and also posted a 2-0 record in the circle for the Rams.

Moran posted a 4-1 record with a save to start her collegiate career. The sophomore pitcher allowed only seven earned runs in 34.2 innings (1.41 ERA) walking only six and registering 28 strikeouts. She pitched a complete game, only allowing four hits, two walks, an earned run with five strikeouts in the 7-1 conference win over Westfield State. Moran earned the win in a non-conference victory over Westfield State, giving up no earned runs and three hits with strikeouts in a 4-1 eight-inning victory. Moran allowed three hits, no earned runs with four strikeouts in the complete game 7-1 win over Emmanuel College in her first collegiate start.

Swanson posted an 11-for-24 (.458) start with a double and five runs scored, five stolen bases and a .500 slugging percentage in a 9-1 run for the Rams. She went a combined 9-for-12 (.750) with a double and five runs scored and five steals in the four-game sweep of Westfield State. Swanson 4-for-5 with three runs scored and three steals in the conference doubleheader against the Owls.
