Softball Walks Off with Victory in Game One of Split with Wentworth

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team walked off with a 10-2 five inning victory over Wentworth in the opener before falling 4-1 to the Leopards in a non-conference doubleheader aMaple Street Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • In the opener, the Rams took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI double from Eliza Carignan and a bases loaded walk from Gianna Paolino. 

  • The Rams added three more in the second, including another RBI base hit from Carignan and another bases loaded walk. 

  • The Rams pushed the lead to 8-0 in the third with three more runs, including a two-run double from Maddie Blette. 

  • Wentworth got on the board in the fourth with a pair of runs, but Carignan delivered a two-run homer to left in the fifth giving the Rams the run rule victory.  

  • Peyton Farris earned the victory in the circle going five innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with a strikeout and no walks. 

  • Carignan finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI. 

  • In game two, the Leopards took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.  

  • The game remained 1-0 until the Rams tied the score on an RBI single from Carignan in the bottom of the fifth. 

  • Wentworth reclaimed the lead with three runs in the top of the sixth inning and held the Rams scoreless in their final two at bats to secure the victory. 

  • Audrey Gauthier took the loss in the circle, allowing four earned runs on four hits.
