Women's Basketball Opens New Year with Win Over Anna Maria

Framingham, MA - Behind 18 points and seven rebounds from sophomore Toya Chester (Leominster, MA) and 15 points and nine rebounds from senior Christina Bordini (Chelmsford, MA), the Framingham State College women's basketball team cruised to an easy 78-37 non-conference win over Anna Maria College today at Framingham's Athletic & Recreation Center.  With the win, the Rams move to 2-5 on the season, while the Amcats are now 1-9.

The Rams opened the game on a 17-0 run and never looked back.  They extended their lead to as many as 34 points with six minutes remaining in the first half and extended the lead further in the second half as they outscored the Amcats 52-14 in the paint and forced 33 Amcat turnovers in the game.

The Amcats were led offensively by sophomore guard Julianna Eagles (Quincy, MA), who had a team-high 14 points and six rebounds, and sophomore forward Maggie Sielawa (Webster, MA) who chipped in 10 points and six boards.

Freshman center Michele Smith (Dartmouth, MA) had a solid game inside for the Rams with eight points and a game-high and career-high 10 rebounds

The Framingham State Rams return to action on Thursday January 10th, 2008 as they travel to Mt. Ida College for a 6 p.m. game, while the Anna Maria College Amcats travel to Pine Manor on the 10th for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
