Feeney Lifts Bears Past Women's Basketball

Framingham, MA - Behind a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds from senior center Colleen Feeney (Providence, RI), the Bridgewater State College women's basketball team cruised to an easy 71-43 conference win over Framingham State on the road tonight at Framingham's Athletic & Recreation Center.

The Bears opened up at 21 point halftime lead as they were on fire from the floor shooting 45% from the field, while the Rams only connected on 20% of their first half offerings.  The Bears also held an advantage inside as they outscored the Rams 18-8 inside with Feeney leading the way with16 first half points on 5 of 7 shooting from the field. 

The Rams were able to cut into the Bears lead and only trailed 41-27 with 15:30 remaining in the game.  The Bears responded with 14-3 run sparked by five points from Feeney over the next five minutes to put the game out of reach.

Senior forward Kelsey Collasius (Rochester, MA) had solid game for the Bears with 10 points and six rebounds, while Caitlin Feeney (Providence, RI) added six points, seven rebounds and nine assists.  The Rams were led by sophomore forward Toya Chester (Leominster, MA) who had a team-high 11 points and seven rebounds.  Senior center Christina Bordini (Chelmsford, MA) added nine points and seven rebounds.

Both teams return to MASCAC action on Tuesday as the Rams travel to Worcester State with a 6 p.m. tip-off, while the Bears host MCLA at 5:30 p.m.
