Suffolk Downs Women's Basketball, 62-50

Framingham, MA - Behind 18 points and nine rebounds by sophomore forward Stephanie Zito (Guilford, CT), the Suffolk University women's basketball team cruised to a 62-50 non-conference win over the Framingham State College women's basketball team at Framingham's Athletic & Recreation Center this afternoon.  With the win, the Suffolk Rams move to 4-3 on the season, while the Rams have dropped their third straight and fall to 1-5 on the season.

Suffolk controlled play in the paint today as they took advantage of their size and outscored Framingham State 34-18 in the paint.  The Suffolk University Rams led by as many as 17 points in the second half before the Rams were able to chip away at the lead and cut the deficit to 11 with just under two minutes to play.    Suffolk responded with a lay up from senior Katie Castignetti (Braintree, MA) to push the lead back to 13 with 1:35 remaining and that was as close as the FSC Rams would get.  Castignetti finished the day with 15 points on 7 of 11 shooting from the field and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

Framingham State once again struggled offensively as they shot only 27.6% from the floor for the game, while Suffolk University shot 40.7% from the floor for the game.  Framingham State was led by sophomore Toya Chester (Leominster, MA) who scored a team-high 11 points and grabbed a game-high 10 boards for her first double double of the season.  Despite struggling from the floor senior center Christina Bordini (Chelmsford, MA) chipped in eight points and eight rebounds.
