Bridgewater State Downs Women's Basketball, 72-51

Bridgewater, Mass. – Sophomore guard Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.) notched a game-high 21 points to lead the Bridgewater State University women's basketball team to a 72-51 victory over visiting Framingham State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action on Tuesday night at the Tinsley Center.

The win lifts the host Bears' overall record to 7-5 including a 2-0 mark in conference play.  Framingham slips to 8-5 on the season and 0-2 in the MASCAC.

Sophomore guard Kristen Hoffman (Foxboro, Mass.) paced the Rams with ten points and four steals.  Framingham struggled from the floor in the game shooting just 30% (17-57) from the field and connecting on just 2-of-20 three-point attempts.

Junior guard Madeleine Park (Blue Hill, ME) chipped in nine points for the Rams while classmates Patrecia Bradshaw (Cambridge, Mass.) and Kia Minor (Edgartown, Mass.) added seven and six points, respectively.

Williamson connected on 8-of-12 field goal attempts including 5-for-8 from behind the arc.  As a team, the Bears converted on 9-of-18 three-point attempts and shot 52% (29-56) from the floor in the game.

Senior forward Shelly DePina (New Bedford, Mass.) added 15 points, four rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals for the hosts, while junior forward Michaela Cosby (Walpole, Mass.) chipped in with six points and game-high totals of eight boards and six assists.

Bridgewater jumped out to an early 15-4 lead and never looked back.  The Bears led 39-20 at the intermission and used a 14-2 run at the start of the second half to take a commanding 31-point lead (53-22).  Bridgewater got up by as many as 36 points in the second half before picking up the 72-51 victory.

Bridgewater hosts non-conference foe UMass Boston on Thursday night at 7:30, while Framingham hosts MASCAC rival Fitchburg State on Saturday afternoon at one.
