Women's Basketball Closes Regular Season with 79-68 Setback at Rivier

Nashua, NH – The Framingham State University women's basketball team closed the regular season this evening with a 79-68 loss to Rivier College on the road in a non-conference match-up.

With the loss the Rams are now 13-11 on the year and will host an opening round game of the MASCAC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament on Tuesday evening.

The Rams were led by senior forward Kia Minor (Edgartown, Mass.) who racked up her team leading eighth double double of the season as she scored a team-high 25 points and grabbed 10 boards including nine on the offensive glass.  Minor connected on 9-of-16 from the floor and 7-of-10 from the line en route to her 25. 

Classmate Madeleine Park (Blue Hill, ME) chipped in 17 points, while junior Kristen Hoffman (Foxboro, Mass.) contributed her first double double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Sophomore Samantha Irvine (Franklin, Mass.) also recorded double figures with 11 points off the bench.

Rivier was led by 26 points from Deanna Purcell and 25 from A.J. Guidi.  Purcell connected on 9-of-16 from the floor and 2-for-4 from behind the arc. She filled the stat sheet with five rebounds, six assists and three steals, while Guidi added seven boards.  Jaclyn Penniman was the only other Raider in double figures as she scored 12 on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor off the bench.
