Women's Basketball Falls 86-76 to St. Joseph’s (ME)

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team was defeated 86-76 by Saint Joseph's (ME) this afternoon in non-conference action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led by 17 points from Michelle Moreno. Moreno connected on 6-of-9 from the floor and added four rebounds, two assists and three steals. 

  • Katherine Haselton finished the game with 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals, while Faith Greene added 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals. 

  • Abigail Martin chipped in with 11 points on 4-of-6 from the field, while Jacqueline Schels finished the day with 10 points and two steals. 

  • St. Joe's jumped out to a 7-2 lead two minutes into the game, but the Rams countered with an 8-2 run taking a 10-9 lead on a Michelle Moreno layup with just under five to go. 

  • The Monks responded with a 9-0 run of their own capped by a Logan Brown three to lead 18-10 with just under three to play in the first The Rams closed the gap to four (21-17) on a Faith Greene layup, but the Monks received a three from Madison Lebel to lead 24-17 after one. 

  • The Monks maintained the lead throughout the second quarter as they led by as many as 17 before taking a 49-34 lead into the locker room. 

  • The Rams chipped away at the lead cutting the deficit to 53-42 on a Moreno free throw with 6:43 left in the third, but the Monks extended the lead to 64-46 with just under three to play in the third before they took a 67-54 lead into the fourth. 

  • The Rams cut the deficit to single digits (70-61) on a Brodie Gannon layup in traffic just over two minutes into the fourth, but the Monks countered pushing the lead back to 12 with six to play. The Rams would close the gap to seven on a pair of occasions late in the fourth, but the Monks held on for the win.
