Strong Second Half Propels Women's Basketball Past Salem State 77-57 – Cerruti Tallies 1,000th Career Point

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team saw four players record double figures including Kiara Cerruti who tallied her 1000th career point as the Rams defeated Salem State 77-57 this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led by a team-high 20 points from Cerruti including her 1,000th career point on a breakaway layup with 8:55 on the clock in the fourth.  Cerruti has scored 393 points in her season and a half with the Rams and scored 607 points during her time at Lasell and UMass Dartmouth. 

  • Faith Greene chipped in with 17 points, five rebounds, an assist and two steals, while Jacqueline Schels tallied a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds with three assists. 

  • Kelsey Yelle added a double-double off the bench with 13 points and 11 rebounds. 

  • In the opening quarter, the Rams used a 12-2 run capped by a pair of Greene free throws to lead 13-4 with just under four to play. The Rams extended the lead to as many as 11 before taking a 19-9 lead after one. 

  • In the second, the Rams maintained the lead throughout the frame, but the Vikings mounted a late charge closing the gap to 30-26 at the half. 

  • The Vikings scored the first six points of the third quarter taking a 32-30 lead, but the Rams rattled off a 12-2 run pushing the lead to 43-34 midway through the third.  The Rams maintained the lead and headed to the final quarter leading 53-37. 

  • The Rams opened the final quarter with an 11-2 run capped by a Schels layup extending the advantage to 62-39. The Rams led by as many as 25 in the final quarter.
