Women's Basketball Celebrates Senior Day with 71-55 Victory over Anna Maria

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team closed the regular season with a 71-55 victory over Anna Maria this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were 18 points and eight rebounds from Kelsey Yelle. Yelle added three steals and a block. 

  • Kiara Cerruti finished the game with 14 points and two steals, while Jacqueline Schels finished the game with a double double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. 

  • Abigail Martin added a double double of her own with 11 points and 11 rebounds with four assists and two steals. 

  • In the first quarter, the Rams opened a 14-5 lead before the Amcats closed the frame with a spurt of their own to trail 18-14 after one. 

  • The Rams opened the second quarter with a 14-0 run and led 28-14 midway through the frame. The Amcats would get no closer than 12 as the Rams took a 41-25 lead into the locker room.  Martin paced the Rams with nine first half points, while Cerruti scored eight. 

  • The Rams extended the lead to as many as 21 in the third quarter. Anna Maria closed the gap to 13 in the fourth, but the Rams pushed the lead back to 20 on a pair of Ava McKeon free throws. 

  • Prior to the game the Rams recognized their three seniors – Martin, Faith Greene and Cerruti – as part of senior day.

The Rams are back in action next week in the MASCAC Tournament where they will host one semifinal on Thursday night.
