MCLA Surges to 5-2 Win Over Women’s Ice Hockey

North Adams, MA – The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) women's ice hockey team secured a 5-2 come from behind victory over Framingham State University on Saturday evening. 

THE BASICS:

  • Records: MCLA (5-0-0, 1-0-0), Framingham State (0-6-0, 0-2-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

1st Period: 

  • 17:55 – Framingham State struck first with Sarah Lewis scoring, assisted by Petra Cernicek, giving the visitors an early lead. 

2nd Period: 

  • 08:14 – MCLA responded as Carlen Bertrand tied the game with an unassisted goal. 

  • 16:35 – Alexandrea Bednar scored unassisted to put MCLA ahead. 

  • 16:46 – Just moments later, Milena Monell added another unassisted goal to extend MCLA's lead. 

  • 18:06 – Bednar found the back of the net again for her second unassisted goal of the period. 

  • 18:52 – Kiera Grom capped the scoring for MCLA with a goal assisted by Mallory Stuart, making it 5-1 at the end of the second. 

3rd Period: 

  • 16:16 – Framingham State narrowed the deficit when Petra Cernicek netted an unassisted goal, but it was not enough to spark a comeback.
