Women’s Lacrosse Opens League Play with 18-8 Win over Fitchburg State

Fitchburg, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team opened league play this afternoon defeating Fitchburg State 18-8 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Elliot Field.

-Scores:  Framingham State 18, Fitchburg State 8 

-Records: Framingham State (4-4, 1-0), Fitchburg State (1-8, 0-1)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were paced on the attack with five goals and two assists from Molly Lanier, while Maggie Grout finished the game with four goals on five shots. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Rams opened the game with a pair of goals from Lanier and Bosma before the Falcons got on the board with 10 minutes to play in the first. The Rams took control of the game with a 5-0 run featuring a pair from Lanier, but the Falcons closed the frame with two straight and trailed 7-3 after one. 

  • The Rams opened the second period with back-to-back goals from Bosma to lead 9-3 and they closed the half outscoring the Falcons 3-2 and led 12-5 at the half. 

  • The third quarter was all the Rams as they outscored the Falcons 5-1 in the frame and led 17-6 after three.

The Rams are back in action Saturday when they travel to Fitchburg State at 12 p.m.
