Baker’s Overtime Winner Sends Women’s Lacrosse to MASCAC Title Game

Westfield, Mass. – Framingham State senior Hailey Baker scored with 41 seconds remaining in overtime to send the third-seeded Framingham State women's lacrosse team to the 2025 MASCAC Tournament Championship Game after a thrilling 9-8 overtime victory over second-seeded Westfield State Thursday night at Alumni Field.

  • Score: Framingham State 9, Westfield State 8 (OT) 

  • Records: Framingham State (10-8), Westfield State (7-11) 

  • Location: Alumni Field – Westfield, Mass. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams trailed 2-0 after the first quarter but gradually found their rhythm, tying the game by halftime and going goal-for-goal in the second half. 

  • Senior Molly Lanier paced the Rams with four goals, including a hat trick in the first half to keep Framingham in striking distance. Leah Green added three goals, including a critical go-ahead free position shot in the fourth and another during a man-up situation. 

  • The game-winner came with just 41 seconds remaining in overtime, when Hailey Baker, who finished with two goals and two assists, converted a feed from Alessia Lye to seal the win for the Rams. 

  • Baker was also a force across the field, leading Framingham in ground balls (4) and draw controls (5), while contributing on both ends. Goalkeeper Isabella DiMare earned the win in net with four saves on 12 shots faced. 

  • Westfield was led by Mykenzie Black, who scored a game-high five goals and added two assists. She scored with 1:35 to go and assisted on Mercedes Rozzi's game-tying goal with 41 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. 

  • Despite controlling 11 draws to Framingham's 10 and forcing 10 turnovers, the Owls couldn't convert in overtime.

The Rams will play top seeded Worcester State on Saturday at 11am for the 2025 MASCAC Title and the league's NCAA Tournament automatic bid.
