Strong Second Half Sends Women’s Lacrosse Past Salem State 8-5

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team closed the first half with a goal and opened the second with two straight as the Rams defeated Salem State 8-5 this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Maple Street Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams led 2-0 after one period with Emma Kendzulak scoring twice for the Rams. 

  • Salem tied the game in second period with a pair of goals, but the Rams received a tally from Jenna James as time expired to lead 3-2 at the half. 

  • The Rams opened the third with back-to-back goals from Alessia Lye and Kendzulak to lead 5-2.  

  • Salem answered with back-to-back goals closing the deficit to one, but the Rams received two goals from Jenna James to lead 7-4 with just under six to play in the period 

  • The Rams received an unassisted goal from Katie Pizzardi to open the fourth and extend the lead to 8-4. Salem added a tally midway through the frame to reach the final score. 

  • Kendzulak and James finished the game with three goals apiece, while Kelley DeBellis added two assists in the victory.
