Women's Soccer Shutsout Regis 3-0
Framingham, MA- The Framingham State College women's soccer team picked up their first home win of the season today on Maple Street Field as the Rams shutout the Regis College Pride 3-0. With the win, the Rams improve to 2-1 on the season, while the Pride is still in search of their first win at 0-3.
The Rams controlled the play all day as they out shot the Pride 29-6 for the game. The Rams broke into the scoring column in the 4th minute of play as junior Jill Jenkinson (Boxford, MA) found senior Carolyn Reinstein (Ashland, MA) alone in the box who connected for her first goal of the day. The Rams second goal would come in the 19th minute when the Pride scored an own goal on a loose ball in front of the net. Reinstein would finish off the scoring in the 89th minute when she scored her second goal of the day as she tipped in a rebound in front of the net.
Regis College goalie Megan O'Donnell (Everett, MA) faced twenty-nine shots on the day and made seventeen saves as she picked up the loss. Framingham goalie freshman Tara Cavalieri (Attleboro, MA) was virtually untested on the day as she made three saves and picked up her first shutout win of the season.
The Rams return to action on Saturday as they travel to Wellesley College for a 1 p.m. game, while the Pride host Lesley at 1 p.m. also on Saturday.
