Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 at Salem State

Salem, Mass. - Junior Erin O'Brien (Hanson, Mass.) scored with 12:45 remaining to lift the Salem State Lady Vikings past the Framingham State Rams 1-0 in a Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) game on Saturday. 

O'Brien, who leads the Vikings in points with 20, placed a shot off a feed from KatyLyn Verrette (Saugus, Mass.) over the head of goalie Kia Minor (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) to give Salem State (8-4, 3-1) the one goal victory.
 
Neither team could generate much offense in the first period, combining for just four shots. Taylor Orlando (Danvers, Mass.) almost broke the deadlock early in the second half with a shot that bounced off of the top of the goal at the 40:12 mark.
 
Framingham State (4-7, 1-2) freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Masionis (Milford, Mass.) nearly gave the Rams the lead later in the period, placing a shot just over the crossbar with 28:40 remaining. 

Sophomore goalie Leah Potcner (Wilmington, Mass.) recorded two saves to pick up her fourth win of the season. Minor, who made seven saves, suffered her seventh loss of the year. 

Both teams are back in action next Saturday, October 17th at 1:00 p.m., as Salem State hosts Bridgewater State and Framingham State travels to MCLA.
