Clermont, Fla. - The Framingham State University softball team was defeated 7-6 in extra innings by Wisconsin-Stout before downing Clarkson 15-2 in five innings in a non-conference action at the Spring Games.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

Wis.-Stout-FSU 

  • In the opener, the Rams were defeated 7-6 by Wis.-Stout in eight innings. 

  • Stout jumped out to a 4-0 lead after plating two run in each of the first two innings. 

  • The Rams answered with three in the top of the third including a two run triple from Ellie Etemad-Gilbertson. 

  • Stout tallied a solo run in the fourth, but the Rams added on in the fourth and the fifth to close the gap to 5-4. 

  • The Rams tied the game in the top of the sixth on an RBI double from Amanda Roche. Neither team scored in the seventh sending the game to extra innings. 

  • Audrey Guathier singled in a run for the Rams in the top of the eighth, but Stout plated two runs in the bottom of the inning to secure the victory. 

  • Gauthier took the loss in the circle going two innings in relief, allowing two runs, one earned on three hits. Peyton Ferris started in the circle but did not factor in the decision. 

FSU 15, Clarkson 2 (5 Innings) 

  • After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, the Rams took control of the game with six runs in the bottom of the inning. Eliza Carignan and Audrey Gauthier plated three run home runs in the inning. 

  • The Rams added five in the second, including a two-run double from Carignan and RBI base hits from Gauthier and Gianna Paolino. 

  • The Rams capped the scoring with an RBI single from Ava Gray in the third and an RBI double from Amanda Roche and two run homer from Jocelyn Pepe in the fourth. 

  • Carignan finished the game 3-for-3 with two runs scored and five RBI, while Gauthier finished 2-for-2 with four RBI. 

  • Julianna Chisholm earned the victory for the Rams going two innings, allowing no runs on no hits with a strikeout.

The Rams are back in action next Monday when they face Wellesley and Eastern Conn. at the Spring Games.
