Softball Falls to Fredonia and Wis.-Stevens Point

Clermont, Fla. - The Framingham State University softball team was defeated 5-1 by Fredonia before falling 14-3 to Wisc.-Stevens point in five innings this morning in non-conference action at the Spring Games.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

Fredonia-FSU 

  • In the opener, Fredonia capitalized on a Ram error to load the bases in the third inning and scored three unearned runs taking a 3-0 lead. 

  • Fredonia held the Rams without a hit through the first four plus innings before Ellie Etemad-Gilbertson tripled with two outs in the fifth inning.  Isabella MacDonald followed with a single plating Gilbertson cutting the deficit to 3-1 after five and a half. 

  • Fredonia countered with two in the bottom of the sixth, pushing the lead to 5-1. 

  • Audrey Gauthier took the loss in the circle for the Rams going six innings, allowing five runs, two earned, on seven hits with six strikeouts and two walks. 

  • Kendall Phillips earned the victory for Fredonia going seven innings, allowing one earned run on three hits with five strikeouts and a walk. 

Wisc.-Stevens Point-FSU 

  • In their second game of the day, UWSP jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three innings and extended the lead to 8-0 with five runs in the top of the fourth. 

  • The Rams got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs.  Jocelyn Pepe plated the first run with a sacrifice fly to center, and Ava Gray drove in a pair with a single through the right side. 

  • UWSP added six in the top of the sixth and kept the Rams off the board in the bottom of the inning to secure the run rule victory. 

  • Payton Farris took the loss in the circle going 3.2 innings, allowing eight earned runs on nine hits with five walks and two strikeouts. 

  • Gray finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Isabella MacDonald also went 2-for-3.
