Softball Sweeps MASCAC Twinbill with MCLA

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team swept a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader this afternoon with MCLA by scores of 5-0 and 9-1 in five innings at Maple Street Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • In the opener, the Rams received seven shutout innings from Peyton Farris in the circle. Farris allowed just two hits with six strikeouts and no walks. 

  • The Rams got on the board in the second inning when the took advantage of an MCLA fielding miscue. 

  • The Rams added to the lead in the fourth on an RBI single from Jocelyn Pepe and another MCLA error. 

  • Amanda Roche capped the scoring with an RBI single in the fifth for the Rams. 

  • Eliza Carignan finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Ava Gray added a pair of hits including a double. 

  • In game two, the Rams took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on an RBI single from Audrey Guathier. 

  • The Rams tacked on five in the third including a two run homer from Carignan and a two run double from Gauthier. 

  • MCLA plated thier only run of the game in the top of the fourth, but the Rams added two more in the bottom of the inning on a two run double from Pepe. 

  • Audrey Gauthier earned the victory in the circle going five innings, allowing one run on four hits with seven strikeouts. Gauthier also went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and a run scored.
