Softball Takes Two from Mass. Maritime

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team swept a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader this afternoon with Mass. Maritime by scores of 6-2 and 9-4 at Maple Street Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • In the opener, the Rams plated three in the bottom of the first inning as they scored a pair of runs on wild pitches and received and RBI ground out from Amanda Roche. 

  • The Bucs got on the board with a run in the top of the second, but the Rams added three in the fourth to lead 6-1.  Mikayla Yuricheck and Ellie Etemad-Gilbertson plated runs with singles and Isabella MacDonald added an RBI triple. 

  • The Bucs added an unearned run in the top of the seventh to reach the final margin. 

  • Peyton Farris earned the victory in the circle going seven innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits with four strikeouts and no walks. 

  • Etemad-Gilbertson went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored, while MacDonald finished the game 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. 

  • In game two, the Rams grabbed a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Yuricheck singled home a run and three runs scored when Etemad-Gilbertson reached on an error and then scored on a wild pitch. 

  • Mass. Maritime got a run back in the top of the third, but the Rams plated four in the bottom of the third. Amanda Roche plated three runs with a double and Gianna Paolino added an RBI single. 

  • Mass. Maritime capped the scoring with three runs in the top of the fourth. 

  • Audrey Gauthier earned the victory in the circle allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits with 11 strikeouts. 

  • Etemad-GilbertsonRoche and Carignan all recorded two hits apiece.
