Softball Hands Owls First Loss of Season in Split of MASCAC Doubleheader

Westfield, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team took game one by a score of 7-3 giving the Westfield State Owls their first loss of the season before the Owls came back to win game two 6-1 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader aSullivan Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • In the opener, the Rams got on the board in the top of the first on an RBI single from Amanda Roche. 

  • The Rams pushed the lead to 7-0 with four in the third including a two run single from MacDonald. 

  • The Owls plated three in the bottom of the sixth to reach the final margin. 

  • Peyton Farris earned the victory in the circle tossing a complete game, allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits with four strikeouts. 

  • MacDonald finished the game 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI. 

  • In game two, the Rams got on the board in the top of the first on an RBI single from Jocelyn Pepe. 

  • The Owls tied the game in the bottom of the inning and took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth. They added two more in the sixth to reach the final margin. 

  • Audrey Gauthier took the loss in the circle going 3.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits with four walks. 

  • Pepe finished the game 1-for-3 with an RBI.
