Salem State Sweep MASCAC Doubleheader with Softball

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team was defeated 13-11 and 8-5 in eight innings by Salem State in a MASCAC doubleheader this afternoon.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • In the opener, the Vikings plated eight runs in the top of the fifth inning to erase a 5-4 deficit and take the lead for good.  

  • Ava Gray finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI, while Jocelyn Pepe finished the game 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI. 

  • Peyton Farris took the loss in the circle going 4.2 innings, allowing 11 runs, nine earned, on eight hits with three strikeouts. 

  • In game two, the Rams took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI ground out from Gray and a Pepe RBI single. 

  • Salem took the lead in the third with a three spot, before the Rams took the lead back in the bottom of the fourth on a two run homer from Gray. 

  • Salem State once again moved into the lead, but the Rams tied the game in the bottom of the sixth. 

  • After a scoreless seventh, the Vikings plate three in the top of the eighth to secure the victory. 

  • Farris took the loss in the circle going 3.1 innings in relief, allowing three runs on seven hits. 

  • Etemad-Gilbertson finished the game 3-for-5 with a run scored, while Amanda Roche went 2-for-4.
